Showcase launch day schedule

The 2021 Online Tutor Showcase website will go live on Saturday, April 10th, 2021. Presenters’ work will be hosted at http://showcase.socalwritingcenters.org/. The infographic here overviews what you can expect the day of the showcase and how this year’s event differs from a typical “conference.”

To celebrate our tutors’ work, SoCal WCA is also offering 2 live Zoom sessions (registration is now closed) during the showcase, which are intended to continue the association’s growth.

  • From 10-11am PST, SoCal WCA President, Percival Guevarra, will be hosting the Writing Center Professionals’ meeting, which will offer 2 breakout room activities that will help us brainstorm and develop ways to use the Showcase.
  • From 11am-noon PST, SoCal WCA Vice President, Kim Arbolante, will be hosting a Tutor Alumni panel (click for additional info). She’s invited several former tutors who will answer some questions about the theme “Change” as well as questions from attendees.

Tutor Alumni Q&A Panel

We’ve invited several tutor alum from SoCal colleges and universities to be part of a Zoom Q&A session where they’ll be answering questions about what the theme “change” has meant to them as they transition from writing center tutoring to the next chapter in their work and school lives. Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask questions. We’ll be adding introductory clips to the panelists here, so check back for updates!
